My name is Tonya. I am a lifelong Okie. Born at St Francis Tulsa in 1974, graduated from Sperry High School in 1993 and we've lived in Owasso for over 10 yrs. I am a wife and mother to six beautiful amazing children ages 4 to 18. I took the DONA International Birth Doula training in March 2011. Before my training through DONA I had been a labor coach for many women. I have a strong belief that all families deserve to have a safe, nurturing and most of all an empowering birth experience. I also believe that families deserve a strong support network during pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum period. I believe that a strong team will provide the safe haven that women require in order to have a positive birth experience. I believe that the birth of a child is a gift from God, not a moment of crisis. Women have the power within themselves, an inner light, to give birth to their babies and can stay strong throughout the labor period. I do promote natural labor, but I will support any method of labor intervention you may choose. I also support Breastfeeding and believe that with the right support most women have the ability to breastfeed their infants.
